City of Caceres

The city of Cáceres is the capital of the same named province, in the autonomous community of Extremadura, South-West of Spain.  The Council of Europe in 1968 awarded him the title of Third set of monumental Europe, and since 1986, Cáceres, is world heritage city, awarded by UNESCO.

Cáceres also has other awards: Pomme D'or Merit Tourism, awarded by the International Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers in 1996; Les Etoiles D'or Du Jumelage, awarded by the European Commission in 1999, and the Archival award from the Association for the Recovery of Historical Centers in 2004. It is integrated into networks such as tourism group heritage cities of Spain, and Jewish Network "Sefarad".

Cáceres organizes numerous cultural festivals, outstanding the WOMAD Music Festival, the Middle Age Market, the Ornithological Festival and the Classic Theatre in the Old Part of the Town, among others. 

In the field of sport, Cáceres is an active city. Basketball and Football are the most popular sports in the city, having elite teams representing the city. Last year were held the major city events:  Cycling Tour of Spain and Paddle world tour among others.

In the sport for all fields, you find intervention programs as: Accessible Sport, the Municipal Sports Schools, the Gimnastrada and different Recreational Sport Festival within public parks with the purpose to increase sport habits for everybody. Indeed, more than 3000 average sun hours per year allows you to be active!
